Split trip costs between friends

Add who's coming and who paid for what. It works out each person's share and the fewest payments to settle up. Nothing you type leaves this page.

Every cost is split equally between everyone who's paying. Tick "Not paying" for anyone whose share the group is covering, such as a birthday person, or the bride on a hens weekend.

Who owes who

This calculator needs JavaScript. Here's the example it starts with: Person 1 paid $1,200 for accommodation and Person 2 paid $480 for dinner. Shared between four people, that's $420 each. Person 3 pays Person 1 $420, and Person 4 pays Person 1 $360 and Person 2 $60.

Why it uses the fewest payments

Settling a trip doesn't need everyone to pay everyone. The calculator works out where each person stands overall, then matches the people who owe the most with the people who are owed the most. Each payment settles at least one person completely, so a group of eight never needs more than seven payments.

Who pays for the guest of honour?

On a hens or bucks weekend, or a birthday trip, the group often covers one person's share. Our guide to who pays for the hens party covers how to agree that before anyone books.

Planning the real trip?

waddlio keeps the receipts as you go, splits each one between the people who were there, and tells everyone what to settle at the end. Joining a trip is free.
